INTUITIVE EATING & SELF-CARE
4-WEEK VIRTUAL SERIES
Upcoming Dates: May 12, 19, 26, and June 2, 2024
Food is nourishing and sustains us. But the act of eating can be complicated. So many factors influence our food choices and how we eat. We reach for food when we are bored, stressed, or feeling emotional. Our family upbringing influences the way we eat and think about food, dieting, and weight. And of course, we are constantly being bombarded by social media, the news, and magazines on the latest fad diet and reaching health / weight goals that may not be sustainable.
In this 4-week series, we will discuss all these factors, intuitive eating, and mindful eating. What it takes to change eating behaviors, and uncover why we eat the way we do. This experiential series will be dynamic. It will give you the opportunity to connect and form community, share your roadblocks and progress, and give you accountability to make sustainable, realist change from a place of non-judgment and compassion. We will not only focus on the physiology of nutrition and the body, but the psychology around why we do what we do. Forming deep understanding and behavior change.
The series will group discussion, content, exercises, mindfulness, and journaling. The container we create will be a safe, confidential space.
Week 1: An introduction to the concept of intuitive and mindful eating. We’ll review the body’s relationship with food & digestion, the nervous system, stress, and the guiding concepts of intuitive eating.
Week 2: Perception and belief systems around health, food, and self-care. Specifically, conditioning that we’ve received from our family and society. The exercises in this week will be geared around expanding our perception to hold new possibilities related to health, food, and self-care.
Week 3: Emotional eating and using food as a coping mechanism. We will take a deep dive into this session and review other possibilities to manage our emotions aside food.
Week 4: Developing self-compassion around health, food, and self-care. We will recap all 4 weeks, create an action plan, and provide tools for ongoing support.
